Course Introduction

This Old Testament course covers the books of the law (Torah) and the books of Hebrew history. The student will learn many valuable lessons in spirituality, geography, chronology, canonicals, and law. This survey course is designed to give the student a general knowledge of and appreciation for the first half of the Old Testament. It begins with the creation in Genesis and ends with Israel’s deliverance through God’s use of Esther, all of which encompasses the legal foundation and history of the Jewish nation. It is from these writings that Christianity obtains the foundations of its own moral and civil laws. This course can be taken on an undergraduate level of study (B211 – toward a Bachelors degree), or it can be taken on a graduate level of study (B511/B711 – toward a Masters or Doctors degree), providing the course requirements are met as explained in this course syllabus.
